“He could hear rain pattering on the thatch, like a million mice line-dancing.”

The rain started yesterday in the early evening. It is still raining. This storm is quiet, quite unlike the storm the night before. That one had thunder and lightning. I was wondering how Henry does in thunder. I found out Henry doesn’t do anything. He heard the clap, looked up at the ceiling, saw nothing and went back to chewing his treat.

My list of errands and chores is down to three from nine. I have one inside and two outside. I need a dump sticker. The other day I had to skulk at the dump because I am late in getting my sticker. If I had been caught skulking, I would have had to pay per bag.

My jaw hurts. I think it is from eating so many Mary Janes. I bought a large package of them. I like the molasses-peanut butter combination. When I was a kid at the Saturday matinee, Mary Janes were always a good choice for my nickel. Back then, I bought my candy based on longevity. Sugar Daddy Pops were another good choice. They took forever to chew. I loved it when I could chew the ends of my pops then pull those ends into long strands with my teeth.

I don’t always cook for myself. Some nights I grab whatever I can find in the fridge. Cheese is my most common go to dinner. To eat with cheese, I keep an assortment of crackers in my oven. Why my oven? It is because mice love my crackers, and the lower cabinet is where the boxes were stored. Mice live in my lower cabinet so I had to move the crackers. I hadn’t space anywhere else except the oven. Luckily, I don’t use the oven too often so moving all the stuff is a temporary pain in the butt.

I  caught another mouse yesterday. It was a twin to the one I had caught the other day. As soon as I noticed it in the trap, I took it for a ride. This one took a while to figure out there was an opening. I shook the trap several times hoping to dislodge the creature. Finally it jumped out and ran into the brush. I have to reset the trap.

I have an empty dance card.

    Hi Kat,
You made me chuckle with keeping the crackers in the oven. My mother told me her mother kept the bread in the washing machine. One of those old wringer type machines. I don’t know if she ever forgot the bread was in there. My mother kept the bread in the oven. Wonder Bread wrapped in plastic is not pretty when you forget it’s in the oven and preheat. Doesn’t smell too good, either. I keep the bread on a kitchen chair next to the microwave cabinet that holds the microwave and the toaster. Crackers are kept in a plastic zip bag on top of the refrigerator. The mice can’t get up there. Or they haven’t figured out how yet.

I have slightly abraded tongue and cheeks from eating Tropical Necco Wafers. 🙂 They were good.

Today was meh. Not cold, not warm. Cloudy and humid. The sun came out for about an hour but it’s gone away again.

    Enjoy the evening.

      Hi Caryn,
I did leave Equal in the oven by mistake. During the preheat the crystals melted and reformed as lumps. I had to open the whole package to get the lumps out into the coffee. Finally I couldn’t take it any more and threw them away.

I loved the tropical wafers though I wasn’t sure of two of the flavors.I know about the tongue and cheek problem. Also, my table had powder all over it. I wonder why there is powder.

It was damp here all day. The sun never did make an appearance.

I wasn’t a fan of Mary Janes, but the sugar daddy pops were a movie treat. I’m a chocolate lover and I still enjoy a Tootsie Roll. I’ts a wonder any of us still have any teeth. We grew up in the era before fluoride and modern dental materials.

Today we only got to 92 degrees under beautiful blue skies. Tomorrow the forecasters are predicting a high of 97 degrees. Spring weather is now history. 🙂

      Bob,
I too love chocolate but I occasionally branch out. I like Tootsie Rolls too. When I was a kid, we never did regular check-ups at the dentist. We only went if we had a toothache. Now kids go at an early age for routine checks.

It was acceptable today but damp. We have yet to have a consistent number of spring days in a row. We have been cooler than the rest of the state.
