Kat, please try again to find the old audio player music files, they are still downloadable. They must be stored somewhere! (Within wordpress or elsewhere). As long as these songs are available you will get problems. Automated copyright computer bots don’t care how old the posts are or whether the music is buried in comments. Youtube videos shouldn’t be a problem, at least for now.

They are not downloadable. I deleted the account where the MP3 links were. If you click the link, it takes you to a page which says, “This shared file or folder link has been removed or is unavailable to you.” I tried to delete the link but it doesn’t disappear when I do. My defense is that the file cannot be copied. That worked once.

They are still downloadable. You mistake the old removed box.com links with the audio player music.
Take for instance the random post I checked:
You’re right, box.com links are removed and the old links are dead (I found the box-link and checked it too), but you see the player, you can listen to the music (so the music file must still be somewhere!), and at least with my firefox-related browser I can easily download the song with a simple right click on the player with “save audio as..”.
My best guess is that the music files are somewhere within wordpress but I couldn’t find hints on the support page yet. The download link are […]keepthecoffeecoming.files.wordpress[…] in case that helps.

      • Birgit Says:

Oh, box-links are not removed, but anyway, it doesn’t matter as long as the links are dead.

The music files are part of WordPress. When I tried to remove them from the media file, they stayed even though I hit trash. I can’t download them from the slide player in Safari.

I think that removing the links does help.

      • Birgit Says:

Maybe the songs still live in the trash? Can you access the trash folder in wordpress and clear the songs there?

      • Birgit Says:

Btw, did you also remove the music from yousendit and maybe other sites?
Random post with yousendit link in comments:
I can’t check, I only get “Hang on while we resolve your link” which may be my browser’s fault.

      • katry Says:

The slide never deleted so it isn’t in the trash.

I just tried a different way, and this worked, but the whole entry including the slide and all the comments disappeared. It will take quite a long time as my arm constantly hurts when I use my mouse too much, like when I was going through all those files. I figure I can do some each day, but I believe that it was the link and the download which got me in trouble. The slide is like leaving youTube videos up.

      • Birgit Says:

It doesn’t really matter whether the slide is in the trash or not, it’s just a tool to play the music, it matters whether the music files are available, possibly alive in the trash or somewhere else.
Try to find the old uploaded mp3 files, maybe another day, I’m sure you don’t want to delete all your old music posts.
The 2013 post that got the last takedown notice, do you know whether the alternative link (box.com?) still worked? Wasn’t it already dead? Dead links shouldn’t cause takedown notices.
With audio player music it’s your responsibility when you actively uploaded music, linking YouTube should be safe because it’s commonly considered as YouTube’s responsibility to care about copyright matters.

        4:40 a.m., Good night!

The links for songs on The Box where I loaded the songs are all dead. No songs can be uploaded.

The last time I got a notice I sent back a defense. I hadn’t done that before as there was no threat of immediate take down. When there was on this last time, I send my responses as to why there isn’t an issue. They had three statements I was supposed to give a response to, and I did. I got back an answer which said they felt the company making the complaint had not proved their case. I’ll do that every time.
