“Dear Karma, I really hate you right now, you made your point.”

Okay , I am crying uncle. I can’t take it anymore. My furnace is not working. On New Year’s the guy who fixed my furnace then told me a part was going soon. On the bill, he listed the part. Well, I presume that is the part which has died. I called four furnace maintenance companies. One couldn’t come until tomorrow. Another never answered. The third company wanted a message. I hit gold on the fourth. I’m on the board for service. I have no idea how long that will take, but I’m on the board!

I dread whatever is coming next. First was the furnace, then it was my Gracie, Maddie being sick was next, my fracture was the fourth and now it is the furnace again.

I wasn’t going to write anything today as my arm is quite painful. I couldn’t even do the crossword puzzle in today ‘s paper. Typing is difficult. I keep hitting the keyboard and the spacebar with my pseudo cast, and I’m typing the wrong letters so I’m taking a break today (notice the pun). I’ll be back on Thursday if all goes well.

Ugh, Kat, I’m so sorry! I hope the furnace is easily fixed, but in the meantime rest up!

    • katry Says:

      Thanks, sprite.
I am a whiz at one hand, two finger typing. The house is getting cold. Maddie and I are sharing an afghan.

    Good (and fast) luck!

    • katry Says:

      Many thanks, Birgit

I ordered home delivery for my lunch as I wanted soup. I want onion petals, but, of course, they no longer have them.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and using your plight(s) to remind me of my blessings. I will be aware today of my warm home and love from Ms. Pittypat and the ease of typing. So sorry to hear of all of this misfortune thrust upon you. I have always heard bad things come in threes, however the older I get the more I wonder if we just stop counting then? Sending sunshine and warmth to you across the miles.

      splendid,
Thanks so much. I really need sunshine and warmth. Two good things happened. I ordered lunch delivery. When it came, Tim who owns the restaurant, wouldn’t take any money. He was a long ago student of mine. The repair man is working on my furnace. It is really cold right now so I’m hoping for warmth soon!

    Hi Kat,
Wow! What a string of crappy. I hope this is the last of the nasty and good things start coming along.

I recently had a year of awfulness. It was a long string of expensive nuisances, disasters, and health mysteries. It culminated on the day that the only kitchen outlet, the only kitchen light fixture, and my only mother all died within an hour of each other. I believe I told the Universe to go screw itself. :/

May your arm heal quickly and comfortable and may your find the boxer of your dreams very soon.

      Hi Caryn,
It has been a awful collection of woes. I did get my delivery lunch paid for as the delivery guy is the owner and a former student. That was a goods thing. My house is warm now!!

Your awfulness outdoes my awfulness, and I told the universe off but with a bit more colorful language.

My house is warm and cozy. The rest may come in time.

  5. Invoking karma in your post’s header seems to implicate you, as though you brought this concatenation of woe upon yourself. This is a notion that’s nearly impossible to swallow, as through years of reading your splendid missives from the Cape you have always impressed me as being relentlessly fair-minded, neighborly and all-around good-hearted. Am hoping you get a break from this streak of misfortune and get it soon. I’m rooting for you, as doubtless so many KTCC readers are. Best wishes, Reeshard
P.S. When I’m down in the dumps, I re-read the Psychotronic Encyclopedia. Discovering yet another rubber-suited alien threatening Earth never fails to elevate my spirits…

      Reeshard,
      Thanks so much!!

I’m actually not so sure there is karma. I needed something to blame for the bad fortune of late so I chose karma.

My house is wonderfully warm. It got down to 58˚, but Maddie and I survived as we were cozy under afghans. All is well!!

    Kat,
Always keeping you in my thoughts. May you be warm, and get that dog, you want.

What else could go wrong? Never mind that’s a rhetorical question. Hopefully the furnace repairman can repair the thing before you freeze to death. I’m keeping you in my thoughts.

Sunny day with a high temp just below freezing.

Sometimes life’s just a load of crap to be honest!

    Christer.
