Beans In My Ears: Serendipity Singers

According to Wikipedia, “Doctors protested that many children were actually putting beans in their ears so it was banned in some places such as Boston and Pittsburg. Numerous public health boards also reportedly blacklisted the song.”

    The german cover by Gus Backus is very similar and was a big hit in the 60’s but the phrase is older and still a common mother’s saying. I guess doctors couldn’t blame the song here.

      Birgit,
      I think kids have been putting things in their ears and noses since the beginning of humanity. I can see a young cave kid putting rocks in his nose.
