Bob,
The picture is posed. Maybe she is breaking ground for a building.

Bob,
Check out the links on minicapt’s comment. You’ll find it is about the Desert Botanical Garden.

Of course there are cactus and other succulent plants that don’t need much water. I’ve been to Phoenix numerous times and greenery doesn’t exist unless it’s artificially watered. I’ve been there during the monsoon season when it would rain a tremendous amount in a very short period of time and the water would just run off. I’ve also been there in August when the temperature would top out in the afternoon at 112 to 114 degrees. Folks there say it’s a dry heat, but to me it’s just hot like sticking your head in the oven. ๐

Bob,
I have actually seen that garden. I was in Phoenix for a conference but had free time. It was beautiful as some of the cacti had flowers.

minicapt,
Bob thought the lady was crazy to plant a garden without irrigation. I didn’t know it was a Desert Botanical Garden.
Now she’ll be memorialized as long as that restaurant survives.

minicapt,
I have been to that garden. I didn’t remember until just now. Some of the cacti were in bloom. I remember following different trails to see all the varieties of cacti.
