First time I’ve heard this song (probably because in was released in 1967, a few years after the height of The Shirelles’ popularity). I quite enjoyed it, but couldn’t help but notice the similarity to another song from 1967 which made it to #8 on the Billboard charts. Everybody sha-la-la along…

im6,
They are most decidedly similar. I found this, “Bright Shiny Colors has the same melodie like The Grass Roots hit Let’s Live For Today. But the original hit was an italian song called Piangi Con Me done by THE ROKES an british beat group who lives in Italy and had a lot of hits there. Sang in English and italian.”

im6,
I guess it is true there are no original melodies or book plots.
This song is great fun in Italian.
