Gnu,
I remember this song well. A DJ at a Boston radio station locked himself in the booth and played this song over and over. That wouldn’t happen now.
LC recently reported that he had said he was ready to die, but subsequently added that he may have exaggerated and planned to live forever. Certainly, he will through his music. RIP Leonard Cohen and a million thank yous for your poetry and music.
bob,
I think back then he may have come to a place in his life where he felt he had done everything he hoped to do but late realized there is always more.

Gnu,
I wore out this record when I was a senior in college. It was my first introduction to Leonard Cohen.

Gnu,
I didn’t recognize this song by name, but I did as soon as it started. The dancing and the dress would have dated it for me.

Gnu,
I heard several songs when the new album was released. I loved the combination of his poetry and his poetry to music.

I echo completely your last sentence.

Jay,
His voice was never good but it was much better in his younger years.
