minicapt,
I was drawn to the neon and and liked all the movie marquees. The sailor and Camels are shipmates according to the poster.

I remember the “Automat” cafeterias in NY. The kitchen was separated from the eating area with a wall of small doors with a glass window. The food was behind each door and had a coin slot. You would see the food item you wanted, insert the coins and the latch would unlock and you would open the door and take the dish. My cousin and I would eat a Fran & baked beans for 25 cents. They offered free water, ice and lemon slices for iced tea. The lemon with ice water and a package of sugar, instant free lemonade.

Bob,
The first time I went to NY I was around 13. One of the places I couldn’t wait to try was the automat. My friends and I went there for lunch. I thought those little windows were pretty cool. I especially liked that unseen hands refilled the slots.
