Lateness of the Day

My computer turned on me this morning. It bared its teeth and growled at me. I tried desperately to muzzle it, but the machine got the better of me until just a few minutes ago. Two keychain access boxes appeared and asked for my old password. I had no idea what that was. Every password I tried had the boxes shaking and laughing at me. I then tried Safari which was more afraid of the beast than I and would not open. I next tried Firefox. It kept putting up pages my beast rejected. I cannot tell you how many times I swore at the computer. Even poor Gracie came under fire for snoring. It was not a good day. For four hours I tried to yank from my memory drawers every password I’ve ever used. Finally I found one the box liked and the box disappeared, Safari opened and I got to post.

All’s fine with the world!

Don’tcha hate when that happens … ? I keep a TextEdit file with all my PW for diff’rent things on an external HD. I know, they’re in the Keychain too, but it’s easier to open the TextEdit file when I need it.

Got the injection on Friday. All was fine – for about the first fifteen minutes. After that, the pain began to gradually seep back in, starting with the left butt cheek, then the quadriceps, then the patella, and finally involving the tibia. Granted, it’s somewhat less than before the shot, but not the great pain-free experience that lasted ever-so-briefly immediately after the shot. I’m still taking Percogesic (acetomenaphin with Benadryl) ‘cos for some magical mystical reason, it seems to calm down the inflammation not touched by the prednisone (DepoMedrol). I may be yet looking down the double barrels of the microdiscectomy shotgun.

Leaving for my daughter’s Mothers Day dinner around 1600 hrs (depending on pain level) and Tuesday is Youngest Grandson’s next concert. I’ll be there unless the rain is so heavy I have to consider it a hazard for me to be behind the wheel when I’m, shall we say, ‘less than optimal’ in my pain-compromised state.

Speaking of computer problems, your Mother’s Day post looks unusual. It says “14 comments” which are unreadable and underneath 3 unlistenable music posts posted 1 year ago. Copy-paste problem or is it just my browser?

Kat, it’s your browser … my browser (Chromium) displays only 2 posts (your original and my response) … it should now display ‘3’ …

Here’s a site that’ll let you watch free and pay US / UK / Sky channels … I got it from a friend in Spain, and have to install it this afternoon …

        Richard,
Is it for my iPad rather then my MAC? Let me know how the download goes for you.

        Richard,
I use Safari and it displays the entire day’s post when I go with keepthecoffeecoming.wordpress, com

Kat, the information I got with the link in the msg was that it’s for phones and tablets … doesn’t appear I can install it on a desktop G5 box …

        Richard,
When I saw the information, I figured it was for my iPad.

      Birgit,
No, it was my problem. I copied my post from last year as it is the one I usually use. Unbeknownst to me, I copied everything which went with it. I just went in and deleted. Thanks for letting me know. This has not been the best of days.

I’m seeing the same thing, Birgit. I forwarded Kat the entry so she can see we’re both not off our meds.

    Richard,
I had changed my Apple password which created the problems with Keychain. I had changed it a few times for a variety of reasons which is why I didn’t remember. I now have them in a file on my external hard drive, but I have to enter them when I go to the pages as they disappeared with the keychain.

When I had the miracle back shot, it lasted a couple of weeks. I was free from pain and loving it, but the shot stopped working so the pain came back. It felt worse because it had been gone.

I hope you had a wonderful dinner. I didn’t even get dressed. I was going to do a couple of errands, but none of them were critical so I stayed inside, warm and dry. Yup, it rained again today.

I do not generally use the world lovely but it perfectly describes this music.

The only problem with this digital life is remembering all your user names and passwords present and past. I have a free app on my iPad called Fortify. It’s a secure app where I keep all my passwords, usernames and the URLs to which they belong. I only have to remember the one password to open Fortify. I keep my iPad backed up to my iMac which backs up the apps and data on my iPad. The iMac backs up to an external HD through Time Machine. As long as the house doesn’t burn down I feel fairly secure.

Today I had lunch with my 81 year old mother in law and her 92 year old paramour. She tries to act as old and techno-dumb as him. Unfortunately, except for sports and gambling he has no other interest. We ate a a Chinese buffet so could get up and leave the table regularly. 🙂

My mother has been gone for over 50 years and my father for 14 years. Therefore, I don’t have to fall for these ridiculous Hallmark holidays. The entire floral and greeting card industries depend on these made up holidays. I know Kat, you lecture me every February that Valentine’s Day is a real holiday. This one, Father’s Day and grandparents day are made up to sell stuff.

      Bob,
I used to have a similar program on my old computer but never out it on my MAC. My iPad is also backed up to my MAC which is backed up by the cloud and by an external program.

I don’t know how many interests a 92 year old can manage and most old people I know really don’t understand much about technology except e-mail.

May 9, 1914 was the first Mother’s Day. I don’t think there was a Hallmark then. The President, Wilson, asked Americans on that day to give a public “thank you” to their mothers and all mothers.
