“Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life.”

Happy Easter!!

The poor bunny must be exhausted. I imagine he’s sitting in his easy chair, paws up, hot toddy in hand and watching Harvey. Who helps the Easter Bunny? I’ve never even given the poor bunny a thought. Santa has a huge work force behind him, huge in numbers that is. He has his own little town. For all we know the Easter Bunny lives in a hole. Decorated I expect but still a hole. Does he have a work force?  How many chickens lay all those eggs? Who helps him deliver? How come he doesn’t wear pants? Is it a Donald Duck sort of thing? There are endless questions connected with the Easter Bunny. I fear they will remain unanswered.

Today is damp and cold. I went out at 7 to decorate my friend’s tree as I do every year. Their deck was wet and there was some ice on the furniture coverings. I guess there had been snow flurries during the night.

My friends and I are going out for Easter dinner as we always do. The restaurant is right on the water. The gulls fly by and you can hear their raucous calls. The ocean is still cold, in the mid forties, and I think it even looks cold, a deeper color than it is in the summer.

Our Easter baskets were on our bureaus. They were the first things we saw as soon as we woke up. I remember carrying my basket downstairs to show my mother then I’d sit on the couch to check out to see what goodies the Easter Bunny had left for me. I also ate a few jelly beans.

Church was next. I got to dress in my Easter finery for the first time. On a day like today my mother would have made me add a jacket or a sweater, but I’d take it off in church so everyone could see how lovely I looked. I never had any doubt about the loveliness.

Happy Easter to all the Coffee-ites … I’m at my daughter’s today for Easter dinner and relaxation.

For your listening and dancing plaisir, here’s Mars Lasar and ‘First Light’ …

      Richard,
I hope your Easter was wonderful.

It was chilly all day but it didn’t put a damper on the festivities. We had a lovely Easter dinner.

I’ve never thought about how hard the Easter bunny must work 🙂 We didn’t have him and we all knew it was our parents filling those Easter eggs. I’m pretty sure there must be more thabn one though, especially since You have a bunny and we in Europe have a hare. I guess that they must go through some kind of training until they are allowed to run around hiding eggs everywhere 🙂

Sunny and warm but with a nasty wind all day. When it finally stopped blowing the rain arrived. It will be over by tomorrow morning they say but once again all the gravel roads will be muddy here. I’ll survive but I’m not sure Nova and Sune will since they will get a shower 🙂 🙂

Strange that Sune dislike that so much since he already has taken several baths in the creeks here. Perhaps he like the almost frozen water instead of luke warm?

Happy Easter and I hope Your dinner will be as good as always!

    Christer.

      Christer,
I don’t think anybody thinks about the poor busy bunny, but we’re all willing to eat his facsimile in chocolate.

I agree there must be some training. I’d hate to have a bunny or a hare drop the eggs he’s supposed to deliver. Imagine some kid waking up and finding cracked eggs.

Nasty, damp and cold day here. It rained last night but nothing today. Nothing worse than a muddy dog luckily Gracie only gets muddy paws from running around the back yard. My kitchen often has paw prints.

Outside water is by choice. Baths are forced upon them which is portably why Sune isn’t happy with a bath.

I hope yours was a lovely Easter. Mine was perfect!

To the KTCC Family, where ever you are, may your God go with them

    Rejoice.

Today the sun is shinning and it’s in the 60s with a gusty north wind. A perfect day for a holiday although it was cloudy and damp this morning for those hardy enough to attend sunrise Easter services.

Anyone who actually believes that a person can arise from the dead can also believe in a bunny delivering chocolate eggs. 🙂 I’m always amazed what religious beliefs we hold deeply regardless of our education or common sense. The other night I saw a Nova episode about Noah and the flood. It seems that the Mesopotamians left tablets describing a legend of a flood and saving the animals in a round ark. Maybe the Biblical writers copied the idea from the ancient inhabitants of modern Iraq. After all the pagan religions around the Mediterranean had stories of their gods impregnating virgins and resurrections. 🙂

BTW what do you and your friend eat for Easter dinner? Lamb?

Happy Easter from your agnostic reporter.

      Bob,
It stayed damp and cold all day today. It was jacket weather.

I doubt little kids who believe in the Easter Bunny spend a lot of time thinking of the Bible. They are in it for the candy. Adults know the liturgy but also know there isn’t an Easter Bunny.

We just accept things on faith. No one says how can you actually believe a small quantity of oil to light the Temple’s menorah miraculously lasted eight days.

Most people don’t believe in Noah and his ark. They think it is a metaphor. Seriously, who can believe he was out with a net chasing down bugs and then figuring out if they were male or female. Why didn’t he just forget about the mosquito and the flea?

Sometimes I have lamb. I don’t like lamb in a restaurant as it is always too rare for my taste. I eat with the roast beef, asparagus and truffle fries.

      Thanks for the Easter wishes!!

I guess Noah didn’t have to save the fish, the dolphins or the whales. The thought of Noah trying to figure out the sex of insects made me chuckle.

It’s hard for my sarcastic brain to pass up poking fun at fundamentalist religious beliefs. Let’s see, there was Adam and Eve and they begot Cain and Able. Are we all a result of insest? 🙂 Of course you have to take it all with a big grain of faith.

      • katry's avatar katry Says:

        Bob,
I have faith in many things, some of which I can’t see.

As for Adam and Eve, I guess the next generation could have been the results of other ribs.

According to the Rankin-Bass Easter special, Here Comes Peter Cottontail, the Easter Bunny lives in April Valley and does, in fact, have a whole community of rabbits and chickens helping with chocolate carving, egg laying, basket filling, and bonnet trimming. He seems to do the delivery solo, although only with a single basket, which holds only eggs. Clearly these are a magic basket or magic eggs. The lack of pants was not brought up.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      sprite,
I chuckled at your last sentence.

Thanks for the information about the EB. I was feeling bad for him. Now I feel better that he has a crew.

I’ll go with the magic basket.
