Gnu,
I haven’t heard this in ages. I wasn’t around the US when it was released so I caught up with it much later.
It’s a great choice!

Gnu,
I think this is the sort of music to which ELP are associated: classical and rock. Those instruments made such amazing music.

Gnu,
Thanks for posting these songs. I don’t know ELP well enough to choose the right songs. This one is beautiful.

mnicapt,
You always find it!

ELP was such a difficult one, goodness knows what they did for Mussorgsky. They were Tarkus’d and were the undisputed leaders of Prog Rock (sorry Rick Wakeman) – you loved them or you didn’t bother.
As the music taste changed quickly in the mid 70s, ELP were held out as the excesses that demanded the Clash, Eddie and the Hot Rods and so on..call it Punk, or New Wave or whatever you want
An appalling end for Keith Emerson, his role and influence was true. Today I herald Steve Wilson but Prog Rock was this lot.
It’s been a suck year for music departures.

MDH,
I didn’t find them for a long while. They were another of those bands which came out when I was in Ghana listening to high life music. I really love some of their music. It is remarkable, a fusion of so many types. Some I don’t like at all. Calling ELP a difficult one is a bit of an understatement.
I hated reading how he died. His pain must have been horrible.
The number of music departures this year is only the beginning as the oldest baby boomers turned 70 in 2016.
