“You look like a protagonist.”
I don’t know what we’ve been doing right because we are blessed with another glorious day. It is cool, in the 70’s, bright with sun and breezy. The birds are singing, the chimes are tinkling and I can hear water flowing from the fountain.
While I was sitting outside and taking in the morning, I had some deep thoughts. I wondered which super power I’d want. Flying was my first thought. I could go anywhere I wanted whenever. I was thinking of lunch in Rome, dinner in Paris and a quick weekend in Accra. I wondered if I could fly and carry baggage at the same time. I did think I could wear layers so maybe I wouldn’t need much baggage after all. Night would be the best time to arrive so I wouldn’t spook anyone.
When I was a kid, I wanted all of Superman’s powers, and I wondered what superhero costume I’d wear. I liked his cape but not the rest. The cape was flamboyant, and I could envision it blowing behind me as I flew. The red is a good choice.
Sitting outside seemed to engender strange wonderings. I pondered which book I’d choose to enter as a character. Heidi came to mind because of the beauty of the Alps but then I thought of winter and decided against Heidi. Around the World in Eighty Days went on the list. It’s that travel bug thing I have. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy went on for the same reason. I’d stay away from Hemingway except maybe The Sun Also Rises. I like On the Road but of course I would. I’d reread Walker Percy as I think maybe his books might be good jumping into places. I’ve always like Dashiell Hammett, and I’d get to wear great clothes and all those hats. I’d leave off the fox stoles, the ones with heads.
I’m going back outside when I finish here. I’m sort of curious where my mind might wander next: a science fiction movie maybe but only in black and white.

We’ve had much the same weather here today but it started out as foggy and I liked that.
I’ve never really wanted a super power, I’m more of an magic power guy myself. But if I would chose a super power it would be flying. I would skip the cape though, it doesn’t look that good when flying as it does in the movies and it would just make an awful lot of noise flapping in the wind 🙂 I think I would have a blue costume so I wouldn’t be that visible from the ground.
I would definetaly chose The Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy as first choice, I’ve always wanted to travel in space 🙂 The Harry Potter books is of course books I would love to be a character in. But I also have to chose a Jules Verne book so I would like to be a character in is Journey to the center of the earth. I’ve always wondered if that world down there got destroyed when the volcano erupted.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
I wasn’t awake early enough to see if there was fog, but I doubt if there was any. It just wasn’t that sort of a morning.
I figure anyone flying has a chance of being seen. I like a cape just for the fashion of it. I’d also love magic powers. I could wave my wand and say the magic words. I also wouldn’t mind being a witch like Samantha. I’d just twitch my nose!
I too think being at Hogwart’s would be wonderful.
Have a wonderful evening!

Who needs super powers? I’ve kind of travelled the world today and it only took 11 minutes by train. Free world music festival in the next town and I’ve heard Yiddish songs, Ukrainian Balkan pop and powerful Cuban-Latin-African rock dance music. In between African fried bananas (they called it Dodo) and a Turkish döner kebab. Maybe South-Africa tomorrow.
Otherwise space travel would be great, just yesterday I saw the International Space Station on TV with great views on our beautiful earth. I was impressed and jealous. I would love to be in space and of course I wouldn’t forget my towel. Just in case.
A first (bad) festival video, the encore of the Yiddish group, is already online. No sun but no rain either.

Birgit,
How perfect to travel the world with music and food, two of my favorites. I can’t believe the number of music festivals you get to see in your area. I do get town bands to pick from, but they play town band music, nothing out of the ordinary.
You definitely can’t travel without your towel.
It was bad but I listened anyway.

Kat, especially many music festivals for free 🙂 Concerning music and culture it’s an advantage that this area where I live is not one big mega city but a bunch of many cities which are close together. Each bigger town has at least one free music festival or a series of free summer concerts and so-called world music is popular because when it’s labeled understanding among nations our notoriously broken cities can get more money from state and sponsors, an aftermath of our past. Mostly young unknown (inexpensive) acts but that makes it interesting.

Birgit,
I still envy you all those free concerts. I can take only so much of the town bands. What makes them fun is the dinner and alcohol we bring!

The only super power I wanted was to fly like Superman. Guess what, I did it but it required a lot of aluminum, gasoline or Kerosine and money, lot’s of money. Of course like Superman I had a thing for Lois Lane. Superman today would have a hard time since all the telephone booths are gone. 🙂
Hot again, 103 degrees with a forecast of 104 for tomorrow with zero chance of rain. Thank goodness for the floods of May.

Bob,
I’d love to be able to fly anywhere I wanted by jumping into the air or twitching my nose.
Lois Lane wasn’t especially attractive looking but she was willing to do whatever she could to get a story. I think her fearlessness was attractive to Superman.
I am glad I do not live in Bolga anymore where those temps are common in the dry season.
