      Gnu,
I have always liked the Dylan version of this song. I never realized Dave Mason also sang it. It does have a different spin.

I think I may have posted this song before. If not, it was another song from one of the best, most under appreciated albums of the 20th century. Great choice.

        im6,
I don’t remember this being posted.

I am a Dave Mason fan and have been since Traffic. It seems I have forgotten far too many singers.

Thanks, Gnu, for bring Dave back to me.

      Gnu,
You brighten my day when you post Joni. It was good to read she was leaving the hospital.

Her voice is a treasure to me. I have just about all her albums though I admit some of the latest were not among my favorites, and they ar missing from my collection.

Todd has fallen out of favor to my ears over the years, but those early days were really something, weren’t they? Just the other day I happened across the one I’m sharing and thought it would be perfect for a Coffee Wednesday. Here’s one of Todd’s love letters to his then girlfriend, Laura Nyro.

        Im6,
I haven’t thought of Todd for a long time now. It is so fine to hear hm again. This is a great song to another favorite of mine, also forgotten. I’ll have to go through my files for my Laura Nyro songs.

        Thanks for the reminder!

      Gnu,
This one is simply beautiful!, a favorite of mine.

      Gnu,
Now this song I remember so well. I loved The Guess Who. I always contend we grew up with decades of the best music, and this group is more proof of that.

      Gnu,
This is my second favorite Joni album. The first one is Clouds simply because I had it in Africa and heard it so many times.

Her voice in this song is just so amazing, so beautifully Joni.

      Gnu,
This is an album I played on vinyl until I wore it out. I have always thought this album totally underrated.

Kat, I don’t know if you saw my post on Facebook a couple of days ago, but there’s a new talent on the scene who I feel needs exposing: Benjamin Clementine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Clementine)

His parents are from Ghana, but he grew up in England and is now the toast of Europe (or so the media tells me). His influences are many, but probably most notably, Nina Simone. You’ll find some Rufus Wainwright, Jimi Hendrix, Tracy Chapman, etc. mixed in there too.

Attached is a link to 3 songs on his new album, “At Least For Now.” Exciting. Challenging. Powerful. And very different from the other stuff out there today. I hope the Koffee Kids will give him a listen (sample all 3 tunes). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugGN_Z1jPoM&list=PLR5j1JFhoNbsKjBiWyQEMKz3kGrXYYmoY

      im6,
I never saw the Facebook posting so thanks for sending this to me. I am listening to the first song now. When the music started, I didn’t quite know what to expect after reading Wiki where he is even compared to Nina Simone, one of my favorites.

I am blown away. I love his voice and the piano. I’m excited to hear the next two songs!!!

im6, nice find! I hadn’t heard of Benjamin Clementine before. Living in the wrong country I had to listen to other tracks, the “Live Deezer Session” is moving.

Glad you like what you heard, Birgit. I hope others took the time to give him a listen. I find myself less and less impressed with the music I hear and this really made my ears perk up. I wish I understood how/why certain videos are available in some places and not others. Fortunately there are quite a few by Clementine, but not all have good, quality sound. Try this one:

Thanks, im6, the video is available and I like it. I think I prefer just piano and voice but I’ll have to listen to more of his songs first. Another day, it’s late now and I’m tired.
Blocked videos: As you can guess it’s all about the money. Especially in copyright-crazy Germany where the GEMA organisation turned a good idea (money for artists) into music prevention and more money for themselves. Many official recordings are not available but that’s not the only problem caused by GEMA.
