“Truth is, I wouldn’t know a gigabyte from a snakebite.”
I apologize for not writing today. It was way out of my control. I could not get on-line this morning around 10:30. I was on-line earlier so I was perplexed as to what had happened. I waited as sometimes Comcast does a bit of maintenance and shuts down for a while. By 1, I knew it was a problem for me; of course, I called Comcast and spoke to a variety of people. It was person number 4 who gave me a way to check to see if it was the router or the modem. I was rooting for the router (good alliteration) as they would have had to send me a modem. It was the router.
To make an entire afternoon a short story, I went to Radio Shack and bought a router. My MAC would not recognize the start-up disc but I was able to click something to chat with a Linksys tech. He and I chatted and he \gave me two pages of instructions as I had to reconfigure the router. The first time didn’t work, my mistake. The second time did. IT was 4:30.
I was patient and barely cursed during the whole afternoon.
Today has been a foggy day. It was warm, and there is still snow so the fog swirled around the trees and, when coupled with the gray sky, seemed to surround us. It rained in the afternoon, a bit of rain then heavy rain then back to a bit. After the rain the fog returned. Gracie and I were out doing some errands. My company, Francisca, was gone the whole day selling her Bolga baskets and missed a ride by the ocean in the fog, one of the best of all reasons to live on the cape.
Sorry about the rant today and the short post. I promise I’ll do better tomorrow.

Glad to hear that your absence was merely due to technical difficulties, something that plagues all of us from time to time.
Enjoy your visit!

Thanks, sprite.
I was getting frustrated with the two pages of instructions, but they worked.
Happy to be on-line!

Glad to see that you are OK. Just the “barely cursing” is abnormal 😉
Enjoy your company, the internet (you didn’t miss anything) and the rest of the day.

Birgit,
I know. Barely cursing is foreign to my garbage mouth. I think it was my intense reading of all those instructions which took all my attention.
Thanks!

From all I’ve heard and read, it’s not a good idea to keep Ms. Ross waiting. Happy 71st to Diana (with an introduction just for Hedley):

im6,
I watch Blackish and was surprised to find out the female star, known as Bow, short for Rainbow, is Diana Ross’ daughter. (her parents on the show were hippies and are biracial).
I loved The Supremes from the very beginning. They sang great music, wore classy dresses and had wonderful choreography.

Bob,
If you mean a router-I had to buy it.

My cable provider gave me a combined modem router. If the router dies I can’t buy a replacement. Since Radio Shack is in Bankruptcy you should have gotten a nice discount. Before I could complete my thought the iPad posted my partial thought. Now I’m done.
The weather today was cooler and cloudy this morning and sunny this afternoon. Tomorrow I have to go and get my driver’s license renewed so I am taking the entire day off from work. 🙂

Bob,
I guessed what you meant. Comcast does it gradually. My sister who also has Comcast has the modem/router combo. Nope, no discount from Radio Shack, but I was glad for the convenience of where it is.
Rainy today and damp but warmer than it has been. The cold is coming back again this weekend.
Have a good day off tomorrow.

Hi Kat,
I thought it must be technical difficulties. Glad you were able to fix it relatively painlessly and without much blue air. 🙂
My Comcast modem has had a yellow US light for over a week. Nothing is wrong with my service but there should not be any yellow lights. The last time it happened, there was a system problem which they were working on. Yesterday I decided to call. All I got was “as long as there is a light you are okay”. Yellow lights just don’t mean what they used to mean nowadays.
Today there was a brief window of lovely sunshine, blue skies and almost warm spring weather. The dogs and I spent it outside. They slept in the muddy grass and I picked up the doodoo that had surfaced with the melting. Piki Dog chose to sleep on the lonely crocus.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Caryn,
The tech guy was good. I needed the set up package but the CD wouldn’t load. The instructions were great. A few hours later I got a call from linksys making sure everything was working perfectly.
I find Comcast unsuccessful with tech support. I talked to 4 people befor I found one who really helped.
It sounds like a perfect dog day and a pretty good human day too. Snow coming maybe. I think I’ll stay in bed all day!
Have a great day tomorrow.
