They didn’t need stage names, but Ella Fluffernutter and Louis Wonderbread sounds good to me.
Not foggy, but sunny and warm today. We expect another thunderstorm tonight. Just a small tiny one. Perhaps it’s even adorable?
Musical tastes are so interesting and personal. Ella is right up at the top of the mountain in my opinion. Louis is down at the bottom. I’ve just never liked him. At one point I thought, “Well, if Ella liked him, there must be something there.” But I’ve never found it. This is such a great song… when Ella is singing!
Gnu,
This was so totally unexpected. I thought it was mislabeled then I went looking to find out more. I found out Mrs Scarrott who lived near the band’s communal home in southern England is the reader of the poem. It is an amazing surprise.
Kat, perhaps you aren’t familiar with FM’s earlier work pre Buckingham/Nicks from which these songs come. ‘Sentimental Lady’ is sung by Bob Welch, who committed suicide a couple of years ago (after being diagnosed with terminal cancer). Which is primarily interesting to me TODAY because I saw this headline on some news sites saying Bob Welch died. “Well, duh, yeah,” I thought, but that’s not news. Turns out it was ANOTHER Bob Welch. A Cy Young award-winning baseball player in fact.
(Incidentally, I’m not being critical, but did I miss the connection between Ella/Louis or today’s Coffee topic and Fleetwood Mac?)
Here’s another favorite Bob Welch song by The Mac from their 1973 album, “Mystery To Me.”
im6,
I too missed the connection. Gnu is usually right on in posting videos which in some way connect with my music or my musings. Maybe it wa a FM sort of day.
You are right about the early Fleetwood. If I had heard this and was asked who, I’d never guess FM. I do like it and I like it a lot.

Birgit,
I got a chuckle out of this comment.
Dark and cold here today, but the rain has stopped. I had such a long nap, but I’m still tired. I hope you have a gentler rain!

im6,
I think Louis is at his best when he sings with Ella.
Ella is hovering at the top of my favorites list. She can sing anything, even a TV commercial, and I’d love it!

Gnu,
I didn’t recognize this song at all which is strange as I am a Fleetwood fan.

Gnu,
Perfect posting for today. The rain has stopped but it left a damp, chilly day.
This song always reminds me of summers past. He has a distinctive voice.

Birgit,
I downloaded the album while watching the baseball game. Tomorrow I’ll give a listen. Thanks so much for this!
