For those of us that have had first hand dealings with Ms Franklin, there is very little positive that can be said. I would not go to a show even if you sent a limo with Lenny as the driver.
Must be something in the Motown water. I’ve written before about my negative response to Diana Ross in concert and her behavior (not the same as her performance) during her time on stage. I guess they’re called divas for a reason.
im6, you will be pleased to know that Diana Ross’ star had dimmed enough that she has been reduced to playing Freedom Hill this year. That is the last stop after you cannot sell the outdoor arenas at DTE (Pine Knob) or Meadowbrook.
I will not be going
im6,
I loved The Supremes but never Diana Ross. She always has this pouty look about her as if singing for the masses was not really her thing. She could sing to herself in the mirror or to royalty.
Ramada Inn, Motel 6… those joints are too good for Mr. Love. I won’t be satisfied until his ersatz BBs are reduced to playing the parking lots at Aldi’s grand openings.
im6, Diana, and Mike will be joined by Yanni and Foreigner, oh and Frampton, and for $10 you can sit on the lawn behind a very small and not very occupied shell.
Last band we saw there were Muse before anyone knew who they were and they were totally fabgear – today they can sit 20,000 in the Palace with no problemo, but then again they are not exactly on the downward spiral
For what its worth, my comments have nothing to do with Ms Franklin’s personality. I was careful to say that those who had first hand dealings with her have very little positive to say.

This voice!
It’s interesting to hear favorite songs connected to familiar KTCC names. Great choices so far!

Birgit,
Absolutely: this voice!
The choices have been so different, so many musical genres. I’m having fun with it.

My Dear Hedley,
Your cryptic comment has me most curious.

I would rather watch “Beaches” non stop for 24 hours than listen to or see Ms Franklin.

MDH,
Wow is my only response! Beaches?

I won’t be happy until she’s headlining the cocktail lounge at the Ramada Inn.

MDH,
I’m sure she’ll be wearing those glitzy dresses even for a ride on a Trailways bus.

im6,
I’d say Motel 6 in the lobby!

im6 she will be joined at Freedom Hill this summer by Mike Love and his sundry friends. Another well deserving person.
No, skipping that one as well

I get Sunday concerts at the shell with the Brewster Town Band!

I love her. Like Van and Joni, my other favorites, they are not popular because of their personalities but listen to those voices…

Cuidado,
Sometimes it is difficult to separate the talent of the artist from her personality. Her voice is amazing, and that’s what I like.

MDH,
I don’t care one way or the other. She does carry off hats well.
