What a delightful and unexpected blast from the past. I never really listened to The Limelighters, but somehow became a big fan of Glenn Yarbrough — even met and got his autograph after a concert way back when. They called Mel Tormé The Velvet Fog. Mr. Yarbrough’s voice is just velvet — not a trace of fog. Only little puffy white clouds! He also released what’s one of the most beautiful albums in my collection — and possibly one of the saddest and most depressing: “The Lonely Things: The Love Songs Of Rod McKuen.” Hide the razor blades before listening to that one! Here’s the title cut:
im6, Glenn must have had a huge Rod connection as the song I posted is a McKuen song as well.
I liked the Limeliters, but I have always liked Glenn’s solo voice.
This is so Rod McKuen. I went through a Rod period in college, even bought an album. Luckily, it passed!
