Many Happy Returns of the Day Lennie, May your endless tour bring you joy, a restoration of wealth, and the health you deserve as you begin your 80th year.
I bought the Songs of Lennie, immediately before Aladdin Sane, a bit of a contrast.
My Dear Hedley,
I hope you enjoy today’s Lennie tribute! The Songs of Leonard Cohen was an album I wore out. It was too long ago to remember what else I bought. You have the best memory!
Kat, Lennie deserves a tribute today, and what better place than KTCC. I remember Songs of Lennie was in sharp contrast to my musical tastes which were more properly reflected in Mr Bowie and his rowdy masterpiece. I am not sure how Suzanne was juxtaposed with Drive In Saturday, but there probably was a logic.
Mr Cohen has always carried himself with great dignity even in the face of an appalling fraud that robbed him of a lifetime of savings. A body of work, worthy of everyone’s favorite Canadian. (I know, I know)
MDH,
Suzanne is amazing. It is such a favorite of mine. I haven’t been as enthralled by his latter albums as I was by that first one, but I do remain a Lennie fan.
I thought covers would be wonderful indicators as to how widely Lennie is sung and by such varied musicians and singers.
