What an excellent selection! There we were in the middle of the Beatles domination of the world of music and along came John and Zal with this happy, good-time, jug band-y music that just jumped out of the radio speakers and made me get up and move! Sitars were one thing, but a zither? How exciting and different! Like The Drifters had in the early 60s, The Spoonful had an amazing string of hits in the mid 60s: Daydream, You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice, Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind, and, of course, Summer In The City. Great group who have never really gotten their due. Thanks for reminding me that I need to put them on my iPod ’cause they’d be great company for my morning walks.

im6,
I loved this group from the first moment I heard them. They just sang these wonderful songs with great music and lyrics.
I always figured everyone felt the same way I did about them-never stopped to think they hadn’t gotten their due, but you’re right.
