im6,
All I can say is WOW!!!!!! I have always wished I could carry a tune. I love music so much and can’t sing a note though I do think of my car as an amphitheater. This kid has an amazing gift, and I am oozing jealousy!!
im6, a second WOW! for young Billie Tweddle. Thanks. I don’t check this blog regularly and I probably would have skipped this post with Hall&Oates in the title.
Now that IS a good cover. The song was kinda channeled last year by Gotye in his “Somebody That I Used To Know,” too. It’s funny about Hall & Oates. I think I don’t want to hear them anymore, but when I do, I enjoy it (in small doses). There’s something about those songs — catchy, melodic that seem to lend themselves to being covered. If you’ve never seen it, you might look for “Live From Daryl’s House” on cable (or at the link). Each show features a guest and it’s always good. They seem to do a reworking of a H&O song on each show also. Who knew I was such a Hall & Oates fan? I sure didn’t. http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/
I like the fact it sounds so good as they travel down the highway in their van with the limited instrumentation. Love the sunglasses. Makes her smile all the more pronounced.

Ivanna,

In my opinion, this is one of the best cover versions of ANY song ever recorded. She also does a terrific cover of The Beatles’ “I Will.”

im6,

Speaking of covers, I ran across a cover of a Hall & Oates song last night that is simply gorgeous. The link tells you a little about the 14 year old (!!!!) who sings it and you can watch the video there, too. I’ll post the original (and very, very different) version separately. This girl’s got some chops!

Compare the H&O original to Billie Tweedle’s cover:

im6,
I agree with you-it’s a great cover. It made me want to appreciate Hall and Oates a bit more.
I gave “Live From Daryl’s House” a small look, but I’ll spend a bit more time tomorrow.

Beto,
It is a great cover!! That is the second female who has covered Hall and Oates whom I like a lot, maybe even more than the original.
Thanks for this one!!

Beto,
It also makes it seem like just a few friends traveling together who enjoy singing.
