Barry has a version of “California Dreaming” which sounds like they used the exact same backing vocal track from the M&P’s version. Since they both recorded for Dunhill Records, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised. Alas, Denny Doherty’s M&P vocals wipe the floor with Barry’s! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH7szheL6vc

A cloudy, summer afternoon is a sign you’re at the eve of destruction:

im6,
I would be hard pressed to name any other song than Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire. Who knew he’d sing such a cheery song.

I agree, but you have to remember Barry started as a folk singer and would hang out with the Mamas & Papas. They be good buds.

im6,
Barry’s voice is just awful here. I filter out his voice so all I can hear are The Mamas and the Papas.
