= Allen Toussaint = What do you want the Girl to do = Lowell George = Lowell and Allen = Sneaking Sally through the Alley = Robert Palmer = Power Station = Get it On = T Rex and Mark Bolan = Gloria Jones = Purple Mini = Barnes = Barnes Wallace = Dam Busters = Way too much time on my hands
Kat, I was in a Lowell George frame of mind, having picked up yet another Little Feat bootleg in London. So this song drove me back to Toussaint and his involvement with Lowell and it all went sideways from there.
The ipad is screwing up my reading habits. And Lowell still messes with my head as he sang
“Onomatopoetry symmetry in motion,
They head about that girl clear across the ocean”
My Dear Hedley,
Your shelves must also be groaning with all the music, but I don’t see a thing wrong with that!!
I just bought a mini-iPad as the one I have is first generation and so heavy to read in bed. When I was in Ghana last summer I read 13 books, all from my iPad. I love that about having one. That’s where I was running out of books and finally tackled Cloud Atlas.
Katmah, Lowell went at the age of 34 from the proverbial heart attack. He and Little Feat were heading in opposite directions as Barriere and Payne pushing to a Jazz-rock approach (think spinal tap) .
one of my favorite stories is that Lowell and Warner Brothers were not seeing eye to eye so he decided to record and offer a live show which was known as Electrif Lycanthrope. It took me years to get a vinyl copy and it is a wonderful show with the best version of “Willin” that I have heard.

My Dear hedley,

MDH,
I never saw this comment. It went to comment spam for some ungodly reason.
I never knew Lowell died so young. Thanks for the spinal tap hint as I couldn’t conjure the sound of jazz-rock. Love the title of his live show.
