there probably was. I remember a 4 digit number you could dial and then hang up and your phone would ring. The telephone man after installing it would dial to make sure your phone worked. As kids we would dial it to pretended we have a phone call
Are you sure this is The Marvelettes? It may well be some re-recording, but it’s certainly not the single (45 RPM) version I remember. This was the hit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us18AUBM2RI
im6,
I didn’t have the first two in my files, but I did have the third. I used my precious dimes and have added the first two. I can’t imagine how I missed the Wilson Pickett. He was a favorite of mine. Thanks!!
Kat, I’m really sorry that I didn’t leave a comment about the Marvelettes song. I didn’t want to come across as a ‘know-it-all’ who presumed that you didn’t know it was a re-recording. How silly of me – I should have known that you wouldn’t have minded!
Marie,
I would never want a song mislabeled. Sometimes I don’t listen to them again as they’re already in my files, and I presume they’re correct. Please do let me know. I’d be glad.
Kat, I like your new header design very much. You sometimes make reference to the ‘spawn of Satan’ – is that the wee scamp sitting on the coffee mug handle?

Morpfy,
I’m betting some tried. Maybe there was a gimmick back then that would have an answer about the song.

im6,
I had it listed that way in my files but didn’t double check it. I bow to you and have made the appropriate changes!

So what was that version you first posted? If you have any dimes left, you might try:
