Henry David Thoreau quote

Was there anything more wonderful than an afternoon at Cardiff Arms Park, as the crowd sang “Men of Harlech” and the brilliant wonderful JPR Williams dominated the field for Welsh Rugby ? JPR was a true hero, Welsh, a British Lion and a Doctor. Met him once when he played for the London Welsh.
WELL…..given today’s image perhaps this version of “Men of Harlech” as the movie Zulu reaches its conclusion
Happy 80th Birthday Michael Caine (I promise I wont post THAT scene from Get Carter with Mr Caine and Brit Ekland)

My Dear Hedley,
Michael Caine is so young here I barely recognized him. I do love the sound of men’s voice, even ones facing Zulus.

A friend lent me a book written by Osa Johnson, who appears in this photo with her husband (name escapes me). They traveled to the South Seas first, then Africa, taking photos and movie film for audiences in the U.S. This was their life, traveling, filming, and speaking, partly underwritten by Eastman (Eastman-Kodak). The book was written in the early 40’s I think. If you want to read the book, I won’t spoil the ending for you.

Bill,
That would have been a perfect job for me. Too bad nobody ever offered one to me.
I’m impressed you recognized her in that picture.
I’ve put the book on my Amazon list.

Minicapt,
I would have loved to have been her. She was amazing and lived a life I envy.
