From the expanded version of Emmylou’s “Light of the Stable” this is a song by Kate and Anna McGarrigle. Generally Christmas albums mean that the artist is filling a contract, is devoid of ideas, has exhausted the Greatest Hits and Covers format. This is not true with Light of the Stable which is my favorite of all Christmas albums.
“Sweet Dreams Always” wrote Emmylou on my copy of Elite Hotel. Happy Christmas says I.

My Dear Hedley,
It is also one of my favorite Christmas albums. On this and the former Coffee I have played several of the songs from that album, but not this song.
I think the Christmas albums released lately by some of the “older” singers fit your description, but in the old days, each artist released a Christmas album as part of his/her repertoire.

And lets be honest when it comes to Emmylou Harris my bias is rather obvious.
But you are right, once it carried artistic integrity and not a shameless attempt to have a product on HSN
