“I bring to my life a certain amount of mess.”

The weather? Cloudy again, and I’m disgruntled. I don’t think asking for a couple of days in a row of sun is an outlandish request. It should be compensation for days in the 40’s. I’d be happy with that.

Today Gracie is seven years old, but it didn’t start out to be a happy birthday. She was sick with an upset stomach. I had to clean up when I came downstairs this morning. Knowing a remedy, I took Gracie out front where there is a patch of grass she always nibbles on when we’re going to the car. She grazed and mowed down all the rest of the blades. I also gave her a couple of fronds from the spider plant. Right now she is sleeping beside me on the couch and snoring. I know she feels better because she enjoyed a piece of cheese and some of her dry food before taking her morning nap. We’re going for a ride later just to celebrate the big day!

Yesterday I made cookies and caused what my sisters would call a Kathleen moment. The cookie sheets were leaning against the back of a tall stool. When I pulled them up, I knocked the unopened 5 pound bag of flour on the floor. It upended the dog’s water dish and water went all over. I grabbed the flour and managed to keep it dry then I tried to clean up the water on the floor. In the process I overturned another dog dish which I didn’t realize had water in it from the first dish. Now the water was spread all over. I finally sopped up the small lake then washed the dog’s food mat and all her dishes. I put the flour in a container. All of that happened before I even started on the cookies. Good thing the cookies tasted so great: chewy coconut lime cookies. I brought them down to my friends for our regular Sunday evening. We have appetizers and dessert, play a few games of Phase 10 and Sorry then watch The Amazing Race together. It’s a great Sunday tradition.

Today is a nothing day. I do have one necessary stop then no other plans. My bed will stay unmade. The clothes will remain in the dryer one more day. The cabinet won’t get organized. I am ambition-less.

Gracie says thanks for the fun birthday greeting!

She’ll ride with her head out the window-the day can’t get much better than that!

Both Sune and Orvar started to look after those barking dogs when In played that birthday video 🙂 🙂 🙂
Happy Birthday wishes comes from Sweden too!

I could see the sun through the windows at work today, not surprised at all since it is a working day 🙂

Well I’ve never used flour to start a thing like that but I’ve had similar moments 🙂 🙂 🙂 Normally the dogs ad to the chaotic situation too 🙂 It isn’t fun when it happens but it is after a while 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day!

It always makes me laugh when dogs bark at TV or computer dogs. Gracie is also prone to barking at TV wolves.

I will pass along your birthday wishes!!

I am so used to it happening to me I just shrug my shoulders, curse a bit and clean up. Gracie just stood off to the side and watched!

      Have a wonderful evening!

    Hi Kat,
Rocky had the cocked head doggy confused look when I played that video. He wishes Gracie a Happy Birthday, too.

It’s partly cloudy up here today. Sun and shadow. It’s been sunny for several days now. I’m sorry it doesn’t manage to fight its way down to you.

My laundry is still in the dryer from last Sunday. I will hobble down there tomorrow. Perhaps. I have enough underwear to last through Turkey Day and that’s all that counts.
I did do a bit of grocery shopping this morning. With my cane and all. What fun. A pint of Eddy’s Maxx cherry chocolate bomb is my reward. 🙂

    Enjoy Gracie’s birthday.

      Hi Caryn,
Gracie will be so excited with all these birthday wishes. Right now she is eating, earlier than usual, but it is her birthday!

No sun all day here. I did my errands, two of them, and came home. No drive today.

I’m with you-as long as there is underwear. It’s like I don’t grocery shop until I need dry cat food as that comes from Stop & Shop.

I think it is wise to reward great effort!!!

Gracie has a few special treats for this evening!!

You know Gracie is laughing at you and thinking, “Clumsy humans. I would never do something like that.”

Today was a beautiful SUNNY day–aren’t you jealous? Tonight I will be picking up Peg’s dad at Manchester Airport, coming in from Fort Lauderdale. He’s in for a rude awakening–it has been in the 20’s at night here.

No more Gronkonator for a few weeks. What shall we do??

    • Kat Says:

Gracie did watch me but from a distance!

That wasn’t all that nice: throwing your sunny day at me! Did I mention we’re in the high 30’s at night?

I don’t know what we’ll do. He is such a favorite Tom target. He was wonderful in yesterday’s game until he used his arm to try and tackle somebody.

  5. Lori Kossowsky Says:

Happy Woffday, Grace. I haven’t seen the sun in weeks.
