Hmmmm, Mr Hayward and the “Bloody Moos” are on tour with a stop at the Fox in December….for just $239, you can get a backstage tour, stand on the side of the stage and get some rubbish souvenirs but not meet Mr Hayward and the boys.
Just a “singer in a rock and roll band” ? Could not be further from the truth..no thanks, no moody blues for me
My Dear Hedley,
I had my Moody Blues phase a long time ago. It was a passing phase, and I am hard pressed to remember even a single song or album. That was in the vinyl days.
I had this in my files so I figured why not! I didn’t even know they still existed and toured. Could QVC be next?
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah (fingers in ears)… “I can’t hear you.”
I never thought about it before, but I was reading in a blog last night about how the Moodies are not in the RRHOF and haven’t been nominated (ditto for Chicago). That’s just not right. Especially considering some inductees (I’m talking to you, Alice Cooper, RHCPs, Run-D.M.C., Van Halen).
In their day, the Moodies made some incredible music. My favorite is “In Search Of The Lost Chord” (“Timothy Leary’s dead…”). May sound somewhat (somewhat?!) pretentious or overblown — even corny — today, but it’s music OF ITS TIME and never fails to take me back and paint mental images of the past every time I hear them. Alas, if I’m not mistaken, they’ve been showing up on those PBS oldies shows which tarnishes them in my book (at least you-know-who haven’t stooped THAT low!).
Found the blog I was reading: (http://forgottenhits60s.blogspot.com/). It’s a bit wordy and the layout is horrible and hard to read, but there’s plenty of great discussion of the subject of the blog (forgotten hits). There’s even Brian’s response to Mike’s attempt at excusing his behavior.
Can’t believe The Kinks “Autumn Almanac” didn’t make today’s playlist (and can’t believe a certain someone didn’t call you out on it). And did you decide not to encourage a lawsuit and so ignored “Autumn To May” by Peter, Jerk & Mary?
Boy, now you are pushing my memory. The original K-Tel albums were hits by other artists, then they went to 20 hits by the real artists and cut the heck out of the songs to fit ten a side on to shiny plastic.
I didn’t buy K-Tel and I’m not sure who did..the girls were huge on the Motown Chartbusters
Bubba,
Those were great albums but are now gone as megauploads which hosted them was charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering, copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit money laundering-all because it hosted music.
im6,
The only reason The Kinks didn’t make the playlist was because I played a song of theirs the other day and another last week. I just wanted to vary a bit.
There is neither rhyme nor reason to those left out of the RRHOF, and, in some cases, I have no idea why certain groups made it. I wore out my Moody vinyls. They were the sound of a time, and that’s how should we judge them.
Mike Love made a despicable decision, and there is no defense for what he did.
I still play PP&M though I don’t label the song with their names so the robo-searchers don’t find me. It was just because I had, at one time, used that song for an autumn playlist so it was moved to my played files. You have reminded me I haven’t played PP&M in a while. I’ll have to do a favorites day soon.
You can keep those fingers out of your ears: no Beach Boys palaver here, no QVC comments.
Oh my, now im6 is selling the Bloody Moos….I guessed a hint of QVC/JVC would over stimulate him but I never expected this. I can’t believe the Mike Love disaster has impacted his judgment so badly.
6 (can I call you 6?) turn on TBS in HD settle in for the Bengals and try to forget what you just wrote

What a world!
I surely do remember all those K-Tel commercials!
