Katmah rules, one of the less obvious songs from Aja.

Fagen and Becker show up every now and again with a jazz filled Steely Dan show but really dont do much in the way of recording under the Dan masthead, its been nearly ten years since Everything Must Go.

BUT…and there is always a but, Donald Fagen releases “Sunken Condos” on October 16, his fourth solo album and the early tracks have a very heavy Dan sound and are jazz flavored.

    • My Dear Hedley,
Steely Dan I know though I don’t know many others. I’m playing catch-up on so many bands.

I am amazed at how well you keep track of the new albums and what these musicians have been up to.

For what its worth I am especially fond of “Countdown to Ecstacy” and “Pretzel Logic” from Steely Dan.
As we approach the season there are a ton of new releases hitting the amazon. The new Mumford and sons garnered very mediocre reviews, Muse rock in next Tuesday with The 2nd Law which, from a first listen sounds terrific, Van Morrison hits the same day and that will be a gigantic who knows, Peter Gabriel rereleases So in a couple of formats, and there is a BB King boxset.
If you every want to be amused check http://www.superdeluxeedition.com which tracks expensive reissues for every taste.

  2. MDH,
I didn’t know the first few groups despite their celebratory reissues, but I did know those toward the end like Led Zeppelin though I doubt I’d want to shell out $25 or more for an album.
