I am not a lover of musicals, but I do love Singing in the Rain. It almost converted me!
Yesterday would have been the 100th birthday of Gene Kelly. I could watch him singing in the rain, dancing with the umbrella and splashing the puddles over and over again.

Saw this on the news the other day when SITR was being discussed: It’s Hollywood legend (true?) that Kelly had a 103º fever when doing that number. Hard to believe given such a wonderful performance, but Bette Midler did the same thing during the filming of the concerts for “Divine Madness,” so I guess true show people really do believe in “the show must go on.”

im6,
I didn’t know about his fever but that makes the dance even more remarkable. I so love that whole scene!
Love Betty Davis!!
