“The summer morn is bright and fresh, the birds are darting by As if they loved to breast the breeze that sweeps the cool clear sky.”
The morning is a delight. A breeze is blowing, and the air is cool. All my windows are opened for the first time in a few days, and I can feel cool air on my back from the window behind me. All the sounds of my world I can hear through the open windows: the birds, the baby next door and cars going down the street. It’s a wonderful day so far.
Last night was red carpet night, the first deck movie night. We started off with appetizers. The favorite was a new dip, a Mexican blanco queso dip, which was addicting. Dinner was sausages, four different kinds, smothered in peppers and onions and eaten in rolls. There were two side salads, pasta and fruit. Dinner was just right for a warm summer evening, and it was delicious. When we were finished, we got to the main event, the movie. It was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off which two of my friends had never seen. They loved it and roared in laughter all the way through. During intermission we ate dessert, an ice cream pie with two wonderful ice creams, Chatham chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and coconut. It was perfect to cap off the meal. Of course, no movie is complete without some candy for munching. Last night it was malted milk balls and nonpareils.
I love deck movie night. It’s like a drive-in without the car and the long walk to the bathrooms and the concession stand. We even get to have a break. Next week the deck theater is presenting one of my all time favorite movies, Night of the Hunter. Two of its scenes give me chills every time I watch them. Robert Mitchum, the star, is pure evil. If you haven’t ever seen it, put it on the list to watch.
Today is a perfect day to sit outside and read. Looks as if I’ve planned my day!

I would have come just for what You could eat π but I do like that movie too π I remember seeing Night of the Hunter long ago and as I remember it I did like it a lot. Mitchum really is good in that part!
It was awful hot here for a while but it changed with some wind and a heavy rain fall. It might have been the thunder storm they were talking about but it kept quiet while passing here. But the evening is still young so who knows.
I want to eat something but can’t decide what π Pancakes are never wrong but I really don’t want to stand by the stove now. Cookies are also always right but I’m not sure I have enough ingredients for that π
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
I reheated some of the sausages for lunch-delicious! The summer is too hot for the stove or the oven no question about it even though cookies sound great.
I’m glad it’s cooler for you. That was too, too hot!
It’s still a great dAY!

I tried to talk Sandy into stopping for ice cream yesterday afternoon. “We have ice cream at home”.
Yeah, but that’s ice cream at home.

By the way,,, our 105ΒΊ temps of last week dropped down to a cool and comfortable 92ΒΊ today. We actually worked outside – in the shade.

John,
Sorry but I see 92Λ as still horrific and AC stay in the house temperature.

Hi Kat,
The movie sounds delicious! Sausages! Rocky and I would so love those. π
I had steak, potato salad, lettuce and tomatoes. All from the farm stand. Kit Kats for dessert. And I was watching CSPAN3. Whoo-hoo! π
I was goofing off all day today but then decided I needed stuff from the grocery store. Bad decision. Another car and I backed into each other. We both backed out at the same time and neither of us noticed the other one moving. Bam! Her car was brand new. Her son said it didn’t matter because he liked my jeep better. She gave him a play slap. She has a knick in the coating on the bumper and maybe a crack. We couldn’t tell. I have a roughed up area on the rear bumper but then jeeps are built to bounce off stuff.
Other than that it was a perfect summer day.
Enjoy the evening.

Hi Caryn,
Everything tasted great, but your dinner sounds just as wonderful, another perfect summer meal. Love Kit Kats!
I never went anywhere today, just lazed around. Yesterday I was busy all day with shopping, cooking, getting everything ready for dinner and cleaning up afterwards so I figured I deserved to laze around a bit today!
