One Christmas, Rod and the Faces released a single “Pool Hall Richard” and on the flip was an absolutely brilliant version of the Temps “I wish it would rain” recorded live at Reading.
There was another version on the lackluster “Overtures and Beginners” but the sound only version above is the cat’s miaow (with apologies to Gracie)
Saw Crowell, thought Rod, dumped the tune, hope you like it if its new to you. They toured that year and I was down the Granada Sutton to see them give it heck. They was Fab

      My Dear Hedley,
I haven’t ever heard this before-thanks!! I do like it and will add it to my rain file as it is better than Rodney’s though I do like his version as well.

Thanks Kat, I seem to be drifting a bit musically and I blame im6, for no apparent reason but there you go. I wandered aimlessly in to the world of Cilla Black this afternoon while I was trying to do something relatively difficult.”Step insiide Love” wrote McCartney and our Cilla killed it stone dead.
My daughter has a birthday today, I am old but that is ok, we are all heading to “Toast” (seriously) in Birmingham. Should be a nice night out

Two totally different songs Kat. Rodney wrote the one he sings & it’s from a landmark album of his called ‘The Houston Kid’ from 2001. Also has on it this blinder:

Also should mention that Nanci griffith also had a song called “I Wish It Rain” from her album Little Love Affairs.

    My Dear Hedley,
im6 has also gotten me all over the place musically but no one more than my friend Pete in Australia. He even has me liking country which is not even easy to type for me.

I am also old but I have reconciled myself to the inevitable aging.

Cilia Black is a favorite of mine and a wonderful world in which to wander!

I’m melting in Texas and don’t like being talked about behind my back. At least it wasn’t me who got you liking country, Kat. I only began appreciating it with k d lang’s “Shadowland.” That was my stepping stone or gateway drug into the world of C&W music. Fortunately, I never got too deeply into that world. I have enough musical vices as it is. More later once I’m back to my own computer and have things more defined about where I’ll be living and all that. Until then, try not to make my ears burn — the 104 heat already has them warm enough!

      • Kat Says:

        im6,
Liking country might be a bit further than I am-willing to listen is more like it. Okay, I am leaning toward liking!

Happy you made it safely, sorry you’re melting.

        104 degrees isn’t hot: it’s hell!

Funny really born Priscilla White and was the coat check girl at the Cavern, was even managed by Brian Epstein for a while. Loved the Cilla Black show in the late 60s …dont even really mind that she did goofy things like “Blind Date” , she could really sing and her talents have generally been ignored.

      MDH,
I never knew she had a show. She had a great voice, and I remember it was You’re My World which was the first song of hers I ever heard-still love it!

I guess my kids are the young ones and this is Cliff singing for my daughter’s birthday
Dont think that there is a song called “The Old Ones” but Mr Richard also gets a pass for this kind on genius.

“When the years have flown, Darlin’ then we’ll teach the young ones of our own”

    • Kat Says:

      MDH,

“We won’t be the young ones very long,” is so true-the years slide away almost too quickly to notice.

I loved this video because it is new to me and also because the dress is so familiar though I never had a waist as tiny as that girl’s.

      This was fun to watch!

      • Hedley Says:

Kat, It is a clip from the movie “The Young Ones”.

Cliff lived for many years close to my sister and the license on his car was “Move1t” , guess he had no problems being recognised. This is my all time favorite Cliff song.

    MDH,
I don’t understand why, with her voice, she wasn’t as popular as Petula!

  8. Jeanette Says:

I grew up summers in Ireland and loved listening to Radio Luxembourg Top 20. Cliff Richards was very popular then. I still love to listen to his songs when I can find them.

      Jeanette,
I recognized his name but didn’t remember any songs.

I really enjoyed this song and went and downloaded it for my song file.
