While waiting for my machine to beep…
Suzzy & Maggie Roche – Clothes Line Saga:
Btw, only the Roches (or at least 2 of them) were crazy enough
to make a harmony version of that toneless Dylan-BasementTapes song (probably Dylans answer to “Ode to Billie Joe”).
Birgit,
I like The Roches and am always glad to hear a song new to me!
I have a few songs but that album but not this one-makes me want to hunt the rest down as this one is, as you’ve mentioned, a good cover of a toneless song.
This one is from the Dylan tribute compilation “A nod to Bob”,
but Suzzy&Maggie-records aren’t as good as the
first 3 Roches records, early Maggie&Terre and of course
the famous christmas album. (Forget synthesizer-80/90s…)
Some songs you might like to check on YouTube,
if you don’t know them already:
Classic Roches: Hammond Song, Losing true, Hallelujah Chorus
Maggie&Terre (produced by Paul Simon): If you empty out all…
Fun Roches: Want not, You’re the Two, The anti-sex backlash..,
Great covers: Acadian Driftwood, Naughty Lady of Shady Lane
I know, this list is far too long, but I love the Roches π
And it’s great to sing along to Roches (and McGarrigles) while driving.
Birgit,
I have almost all the songs from that album but I didn’t remember this one, and my music is on a hard drive I haven’t connected to my MAC so I couldn’t check.
I have their Christmas album-I’m a nut for Christmas music and have many, many albums.
No list is too long when I’m being given good music!
