5 Comments on “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes: Paul Simon”
Pauly will be releasing on June 5th the 25th Anniversary version of “Graceland” in various incarnations. If you are interested enough you can find it at http://www.paulsimon.com. To me it looks a bit thin on bonus material and I will probably pass.
Our boy was interviewed this week by the BBC and out came the old chestnut (no im6, not Mike Love) about whether or not he would record again with Art Carbunkle and here was his response
Simon said: “There are a couple of issues. One, Art has some problem with his vocal chords and he can’t sing in his mid range.
“So it’s really a moot point unless he can sing. From my own perspective, I would just as soon not go back and visit the past.
“I feel the same way about Graceland. I’m happy to celebrate this 25th anniversary and we’re going to play a few concerts but I’d just as soon be quietly making new music.”
I guess KTCC Fans should all have a certain amount of relief that there will not be yet another reunion even if they were to sell their stuff on QVC. Paul’s answer was not totally kind to Art but there you go.
Oh and Mrs Hedley and I did see the original “Graceland” Tour and she though it might have been the best show that she had ever seen. I liked it too.
My Dear Hedley,
I read the article you sent as to why Simon and “Carbunkle” are done, and in many ways I understand his wanting to avoid the past though I did love the reunion concert music. They had a harmony which was amazing, and Art’s voice was lovely.
I can’t see S&G on QVC hawking their wares or singing together the way the “Boys” did recently. Relief is a perfect word.
