8 Comments on “I Only Want To Be With You: Dusty Springfield”
Ready Steady Go! Began broadcasting in 1963 on ITV early on a Friday evening…”The Weekend starts here” and early on the host was the wonderful Dusty Springfield who was to be replaced by Keith Fordyce and Cathy McGowan (omg, Cathy McGowan, who wasn’t in love with Cathy McGowan?)
Dusty would sing, Dusty would dance, Dusty would ask the Beatles questions, Dusty had big hair. RSG changed the face of music and influenced generations. It was also at the core of the Mod movement.
I have often thought that “I only want to be with you” is the perfect pop song. Dusty had her challenges but she was Dusty and was special.

My Dear Hedley,
I don’t even know Cathy McGowan. Looks like a trip to Google for me.
Even after reading all of that, I still have no recollection of her. I would have loved to watch the Dusty parts!
