It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame: The Harry Simeone Songsters

Every opening day I play my traditional welcome back baseball music. This song is my favorite.

    Let’s play ball!

      sprite,
I am now clad in a Red Sox t-shirt and a blue Red Sox sweat shirt. I’m ready!

    • Bubba Says:

      oh yeah, lets play ball

        Bubb,
He sounds like the Andy Griffith from No Time for Sergeants and the first few years of his show. He lost a lot of that accent as time went on.

Let’s play ball, but the wrong ball for this time of year.

THat was funny-a first view of football. I love he got the refs convicts.

  2. Jeff in San Diego Says:

Tennyson wrote “In the Spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.”

For those of us who are not so young anymore, our springtime fancy turns to thoughts of baseball!

      Jeff,
No question I have been waiting for opening day. Winter is long and dreary and baseball says summer and green grass and the sound of a bat whacking a ball. Yup, spring is baseball!

  3. You’re lucky ! The only baseball I can see is 15-16-17 years olds playing in a very strange field… They’re OK, But I have to wait forMay / Since last week, I’m reading two big books about the Expos history.

    • katry Says:

      Mario,
I get to watch every single Red Sox game should I choose. I do consider myself lucky. Not only that but the Cape Cod summer league with pre-eminent college players is the best in the country. Many current major league plaayers spent summer on Cape Cod.

      • I remember seing something about the Cape Cod league. New England states have also two indy leagues, including the Can-Am league with the Quebec Capitales. There is a strong rumour about adding a team in my hometown (Trois-Rivieres) with the financial help of former Dodger Eric Gagne.
