Avocado was, as yet, unavailable. It was thought better to remain with white in the interim. Black tiles were permitted as they would provide the necessary aberrational chicness.

My mother was the advocado kitchen queen. I think the white serves the purpose of never going out of style. I have a stainless fridge and the other appliances are black fronted but will become stainless when they die and need to be replaced.
