My Dear Hedley,
I thank you for letting me know she had passed. There wasn’t near enough acknowledgement of her talent, and Coffee was a perfect place for her voice to rise.
Thanks, Kat. I can recall looking for–and finding– her LP “Live at Carnegie Hall” in a record store in Harvard Square in 1979 or ’80. Hedley’s right, her music deserved more attention.–Fred C.
Just exactly what I expected to find here today. As you know from our back and forth, I am truly a Dory fan, but never was very successful at convincing many others she was worth the time it takes to truly appreciate her (she was definitely an acquired taste!). So glad to see you carrying the torch… and that there are others who are fans as well. Can’t believe she was 86!
im6,
I am tempted to say sometime in November, but it was a couple of days ago. Morpfy sends me new ones periodically, and I like to try them out. What do you think?

Fred,
You are most welcome. It seemed posting her music was the least I could do to acknowledge her talent.

A wonderful song and artist.

Lori,
You are absolutely on target!

im6,
I too was blown away when I read she was 86. In my head, she was and will be a young Dory Previn.
I was afraid her passing would go unnoticed, and I couldn’t let that happen. She deserves far more!

PS… have I not been paying attention? When did Coffee’s graphic change?

Ralph,
I know-I couldn’t believe it either. I figure we didn’t realize the passage of time because we haven’t seen her in so long.

This is Dory, very live on the OGWT.

Thank you, my dear Hedley
This is how I see her in my head though with maybe her hair a bit darker. She was not 86-she is this Dory!

I was genuinely shocked when they said she was 86, heck she was born before my late Mother.
February 17, 2012 at 4:31 pm
My Dear Hedley,
My mother would have been 84 is she had lived this long so Dory was also born before my mother.

The video was made in 1977, so she was 53 at the time. Pretty good for 52!

Ralph,
Darn good for both ages!

53=52.
