Thank goodness we still have her & her sister’s voice on record.
“Unique” is a term bandied about with a degree of recklessness but in Kate’s case, totally true & deserved. Time to play some more of her just to listen & marvel.
Pete,
When I think of the music my mother loved, I always feel blessed that it is still around for me to hear. It always reminds me of her. Music is the greatest of all legacies!
Thanks for this Kat.
My favourite track by Kate & Anna is “Talk To Me Of Mendocino”.
A few years ago I visited the US, and quite coincidentally, found that I was taking the route mentioned in this song, starting in New York, then on to South Bend Indiana, then on to California and stayed for a while near Mendocino. I felt as though I had the spirit of the sisters with me.
I traveled in January and Notre Dame University South Bend was snow bound, beautiful and unbelievably cold, when I reached Sea Ranch in California, it was gloriously warm and felt like a world away from home, which is in Bath U.K.
Some lovely memories to dream about & a wonderful soundtrack to accompany those dreams.
You’re welcome, Annie. I love that too, and it was a toss up which to play.
Music does that to me too. It resonates throughout my life, and I find myself in the lyrics of songs I love. I can remember where I was when I first heard certain songs and others bring back such wonderful memories.
Is there a way to send you singers’ birthdays, etc., without bothering the entire list/leaving a public comment? I wanted you to know about (Canadian) Loreena McKennitt’s birthday this week before the fact. Fred C.
