I’ve played this song by several different singers. It is one of my favorite songs though I can’t explain why. This particular cover comes from the 1971 album Van Ronk.

I’m used to hearing Judy ? singing this. I put my head on the pillow and listened to Dave Van Ronk, ; it’s exactly how I feel today. We’re having a strange heat wave, and no rain is expected.

morpfy,
Dave was among my favorites of the early folk singers. I have a few of his albums and play them often.

morpfy,
I saw Bette in concert once, and she was magnificent. She is wonderful with this song.

Lori,
I think Judy was the first I’d heard as well, but I like others even more. Nina Simone and Irma Thomas sing it wonderfully.
We have sun today!
