Saw her a couple years ago at Red Rocks with BB; great show, huge loss for blues lovers.

pbilly,
I would have loved to have seen her. At Last always blows me away when I hear it.
You’re right: huge loss.

“Sunday Kind of Love”–check it out. I think it’s even better than “At Last”.

Bill,
I have that one too as I have three of her albums. I agree that it is amazing and probably better than this one which I chose because I think it’s the one most people remember.

She was my favorite soul singer. I think I have 20-25 of her albums.
Sad day…

Mario,
I was so sorry when I got the news. We’ll not ever have a new album with that amazing voice.

Very sad. Saw her a few years back at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank NJ with some friends. As I recall, she was still recovering from her gastric bypass surgery and sat for most of the show. After it was over those that lingered a bit were treated to the sight of Etta James – – in an electric wheelchair – – flying across the stage from left to right. What a round of applause THAT was! 🙂
I have been most lucky that I have seen many legends of song – – Springsteen, Ray Charles, BB King, for starters – – and she was one of them. A huge loss.

Coleen,
I am infinitely jealous at the singers you’ve heard. My list is small: Odetta, Lightfoot, PP&M, Nanci Griffith and more I just can’t remember without perusing my memory drawers.
I love the image of the flying wheelchair!
