“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”

The morning was so still when I went to get the papers I couldn’t hear a car or a voice. I heard only the frost crunching beneath my feet and I could see my breath. I stopped in the cold to savor the silence.

I met my friend for breakfast this morning. Our usual Sunday spot was open today, the only place around that was. Lots of people were there; all of the booths were filled and a few people were waiting for one to open. When I got home, I opened the presents from my family and friends. My sister made the most amazing lamb shade with scenes of Cape Cod from old postcards. I thought it was an antique some old lady had made. My sister and I laughed as I had the old lady part right. My other sister gave me some old ornaments. We call them uglies when my mother started to collect them. Now we all have a few of the uglies. The one I loved the most from my sister was labeled a 6 Piece Dwarf Band.

Today I will go to my friends’ house for dinner. We’ll exchange gifts and maybe play a game or two. Last night they were here, and we finished our gingerbread houses. We were so creatively intent on our projects that we didn’t talk. That made us laugh when we realized.

I wish all of you the Merriest Christmas and thanks for dropping by Coffee every day.

    Merry Christmas Kat!

We have snow. Sort of. A few flakes floating around here and there. I tried to take a photo but they are too fast and too far between to show up. But it’s the thought that counts. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great day.

      Merry Christmas, Caryn

We have white gray clouds and it’s cold. I had hoped for sun but not today I guess.

I just refilled the bird feeders. This morning three flickers vied for the suet so I had to fill that too.

Have the merriest of Christmas days!

It’s a treat to stop by Coffee daily, Merry Christmas again! I like your quote today as most days they go over my head for some reason. Peace is a feeling I strive for throughout the year. I’m thinking the political season afoot for 2012 won’t see much of that, neither will we. So Peace be with you Kat, and thanks for another year of memories.

      Z&Me,
I love your visits and your comments every day. My musings are complete when you’re added.

I am at the point in my life where peace is important to me. I want to spend my days enjoying life, not struggling through.

Thank you for coming by every day and I wish you peace as well.

Storm winds and rain here now, but the day was rather nice earlier.

I enjoyed my christmas eve to the fullest and naturally I looked at Donald Duck and his friends. I can most of the films by heart now days and sings along with the mice when they sow the dress for Cinderella :-):-) (by the way if I translate her swedish name it becomes Ash kid ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

Have a fun evening and a Good Yule!
    Christer.

    • Kat Says:

      Christer,
At one point we had sleet, more snow than rain sleet. It was quite the mess.

I love the mice in Cinderella and also the birds who fly around with the fabric in their beaks. That whole scene is a favorite.

      That’s a strang translation.

      Good Yule to you too.

fellow coffee fans. minneapolis has enjoyed a rare warm and brown christmas. i have not missed snow shovelling, there’ll be plenty
of that over the next three or four monthes

    • Kat Says:

      greg,
Merry Christmas to one of my long-time Coffee regulars!

I used to shovel. Now I write a check to the plow man who also shovels for me. I am content to say how beautiful the snow looks from inside the house.

We too have had a warm winter so far. Only two mornings were cold enough for frost. It just doesn’t feel like winter yet.

It’s a dreary rainy day Christmas Day here in North Texas. Today the World Champion Dallas Mavericks will open the delayed NBA season against the Miami Heat. The Cowboys lost a meaningless game to the Eagles last night and avoided being shutout in the last seven seconds of the game. Have a very Merry day with family and friends. I hope you all enjoy this family’s Christmas.

    • Bob Says:

Sorry, This one is for Christmas

      • Kat Says:

        Bob,
I watched a bit of the Celtics’ opener but they were down by 14 or 15 points so I gave up and watched something else.

Yesterday I watched the Pats beat Miami, and they earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

This was very funny-thanks for posting. I got a few chuckles.

This is it! Although Jews don’t camp.

      • Kat Says:

        Bob,
I have both recordings of this: a live version and a studio one. I love the live version the best. The audience brings the best out of him.

Thanks for posting this. I’d forgotten what a great song it is.

    • Kat Says:

      Bubba,
I get a chuckle from all the redneck jokes, and I also chuckled listening to this. I hadn’t heard it before.

Loved the table dancers and the Spam!

  9. Rowen Says:

And a Merry Christmas to you.

  10. splendid Says:

Merry Belated Christmas to all the coffee groupies and especially to you Kat! We had unseasonably warm weather here in the oHIo valley but no one complained. Hubby surprised me with a charming framed edition of my family tree, something I have been wanting forever. The best part of the Hoilday was waking at 3 am to let Presley out and seeing all my children home safe sleeping under the same roof .Truly amazing how much love our hearts can hold.
Grateful for all our health here and there on coffee, it truly is the greatest gift we have. Sending love and warm wishes to all of you! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXXOOXOXOXOXOXO

    • Kat Says:

      Thanks, splendid!

I’m sending love right back to you!

My Christmas was a wonderful one spent with friends. I don’t think I could have asked for more!

Blessing of the season to you and your family!
