Cabbage was a popular game in the neighbourhood, although some tended to favour Pinocchio. The hard-core gamers were in thrall to porker, which was known as a real ‘pig of a game’. Britches was for the denim set.

I love the puns though I have no idea what the games are you mention. In thrall-I use it and am glad to see someone else does. It just sounds right.
