     He also does some Joni covers which are also eccentric though I swear I read that Joni thought one of his covers the best of all. I wish I could remember which song. I may have to hunt that down.

   Hi Kat,

   I am thrilled to see this song posted; I believe that, back in the day (so to speak) I recommended this to you after you had put up Nina Simone’s version of the same song. As to Joni Mitchell’s material, Van Ronk covered a number of her songs–you can find the songs and albums at this link:

   I’m not sure which song Joni was referencing, but I think his version of “The Urge for Going” is pretty hard to beat. It originally appeared on “Van Ronk” back in the early 1970’s, an album that (in addition to today’s entry) also featured a great cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Bird on the Wire”.

   I guess wishes for a speedy recovery are by the boards at this point, but here’s hoping that you feel a little bit better every day.

     Hi and Thanks,
     I wouldn’t have had this in my files just hanging around so I figured someone told me. I’d forgotten it was you. I was reviewing my music files and came across this song, listened again and decided it was perfect for the day.

     I have several Dave albums but am missing a couple mentioned on the link you gave me.
