“Wisdom is nothing more than healed pain.”

Today is a rainy, dark day. Even Gracie is staying inside. Yesterday was my best day so far. Last night was the worst night, and I was up for hours until the pain killers sent the sciatica packing so I could sleep. That was around 7. My guess was the sciatica gremlin wasn’t too pleased with the wonderful day I had. I feel okay now though I am sitting about four feet in the air on a pouffe so I can be comfortable.

The post is short today. I need to be back on the couch so I can be more comfortable. My mother used to say only the good suffer. I figure I must be goodness incarnate!

You are, You’re the best. Sorry for the recurring pain. Are you taking codeine or morphine for it? I think the pain killer for me was Tylenol 4 and had the least side effects. But I would never drive having taken it. Or even get on the computer because it drains the brain. Hope you feel better soon.

      Z&Me,
I’m taking a morphine derivative, but not until the pain starts and also when I go to bed.

I can’t take anything with aspirin as it is a blood thinner which I’m already on.

Today was another good day. The parade will start soon!

I have a cold, I hate that – the sore throat follwed by all the inconvenience.
Michigan is awash on white. It started early this morning as I slid to Panera to pick up bagels for the Spurs – Chelsea game and it has been going ever since. I had the snow blower out but the winds are gusting, the snow is wet and heavy and the Detroit Lions (Americas Team) called me back in to watch them take out the Packers.

I am sorry to have to correct you, but the Dallas Cowboys are still America’s team. I was flying home to Dallas yesterday from Newark airport and I was very surprised at the number of fans who are from the New York area who were on the plane coming to Dallas to root for the Cowboys.

      My Dear Hedley,
I too hate colds as mine often jumps into bronchitis. I’m finding that retirement keeps me healthier as I see fewer people.

I watched a program which said the Cowboys were America’s team. They sell the largest % of clothes, memorabilia and stuff.

      Sorry for the snow!

I liked Vicodin. No pain. Probably no clarity of thought either but I didn’t care at that point.
Sorry that you have to pay for progress with regression. Tense sitting muscles could put extra stress on that touchy sciatica so it’s imperative to have a very comfy pouffe.
Hope the light activity today repays you with a good night and another good day tomorrow.

      Hi Caryn,
My family has this enormous tolerance for medication so they have to give me more than most people would get. I just smile!!

Today is the tomorrow you mentioned, and it has been a great day!!

I am amazed that you can get to your computer at all and post new pages to your wonderful blog. I am grateful for your efforts. Don’t scrimp on the pain killers. They will help you to recover faster. I guess we all think that we should suffer when sick.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Bob,
I always think I should fight through the pain with clenched fists and jaw. This time I have learned all about managing pain, and I’m doing just that. My jaw has stopped hurting.

Bless your heart. With all that discomfort, you still keep in touch with all of us! Take care of yourself, Kat. We love Ya!

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Rita,
I figured every other day would work just fine, and it is. With Christmas so close, I needed to keep all of you close!

If Wisdom is indeed pain that has healed – then obviously the pain hasn’t healed yet.

I’m talking about myself Kat, not you. 😉

Pain Gemlins are tricky little beasts, they hang around here also. Am so enjoying your music and posts. All suffer, so, hmmm, lost that thought, or it lost me. I’m wondering how much wiser you can get..
Love your choices of music. I am having difficulty in finding out where the story, music and comments go..

Heal quickly, and get Gracie to chase those gremlins out of the house. Sending purrs and woofs.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Hey Lori,
I’m so happy you’re keeping in touch here. I know how much pain you live with and hope the gremlins take a rest for Chanukah.

Thanks on the music. I’ll have to find songs for Chanukah!

Pain is the body reminding you that the Beatles were rather over-rated.

It will take a long time for today’s pain to heal.

we are all here wishing you well
my world is white this morn
but the kids only had a delay
    no snow day
    one week of school left
    then Christmas Break!

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      splendid,
It’s so difficult to believe Christmas is so close. My outside lights are on so the house is a bit more cheerful. I’ll have to have the small tree brought up from the cellar. I feel better so the world looks brighter!!

  12. Florence's avatar Florence Says:

I’m glad you are having more good than not so good days.

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Thanks, Florence
That comparison makes me feel better! I really am having the best day today. I’m walking around the house and figure I’ll wait another day or two and if all is well, I’m moving back to my bed.
