“If called by a panther Don’t anther.”
She’s alive. She’s alive.
I hope you don’t mind my changing a bit of Young Frankenstein, but I wanted to let you know what’s going on with me. The operation was painless. I was asleep and missed it. The after surgery was a bit painful, and they kept me longer than I expected, but by the time I got home, the pain was virtually gone and the sun shined very day then came BAM, WHIZ, BONK, POW and ZZZZWAP. I got sciatica on the right side of my body, and I couldn’t move without horrendous pain accompanied by hideous screaming. The animals ran to hiding places to save themselves. Every step for me was agony, and it took me forever to get to the bathroom. I had to plan my route but wasn’t too successful until today. I only screamed once and not even loud enough for the animals to scatter. The pain is still tough to take but not enough to make me cry in agonyso I’m figuring I’m on my way to having two workable legs and a quiet walk to the bathroom. I’ll let you know how things are going.
I couldn’t sit at my computer and my laptop loses its connection so lying on the couch and writing was out of the question, but tonight I decided to use it anyway anyway so I can let you know what’s going on. I’m hoping I’ll be able to sit at the computer tomorrow and Coffee will be back for good (or bad but I’m talking time, not quality).
I figured I should warn all of you that the screaming you’re hearing is not a prehistoric beast caught in a time warp. Nope, it is I, or me if we go colloquially. Do not run. Do not be afraid.

This is heartening news, Miz Kat. You have my sincere wishes for a speedy and complete return to health.

Dear Count,
Your wishes are working. I am up and about for the second day in a row. I love that this is getting to be a habit!!

Kat,
Sorry this is taking longer to get through than you must have imagined–I do sympathize. We have a (rather nervous) little dog that’s scandalized by pretty much anything at all out of the ordinary in her life, so I can just imagine Gracie’s reaction to the scenario you’ve outlined; she must be very concerned.
Do take care of yourself.
Best,
OMOT

Dear O,
Poor Gracie has the hugest eyes and follows me at a discreet distance both for her safety and mine. Today she scratched at the bathroom door as she didn’t want me out of her eyesight. Today she is herself as I am getting close to being myself/

When the doctor says “6 to 8 weeks” we just don’t realize he really means “6 to 8 weeks”.
December 2, 2010 at 12:07 pm
John,
I am so damn stubborn I didn’t believe him and did stuff which set me way back and caused all this pain. I am now the poster child for doing what your doctor tells you!

Go ahead and wax colloquial, only get better. We’ll wait.
By the way, we have a dog named Gracie, too. Lab/husky mix. Greetings and sympathies to yours!

Thanks, Ted
I’m just happy my sense of humor is reemerging. I thought it had died.
I think our dogs have a great name! My Gracie is a Boxer.

Wax Colloquial, but leave Vernacular alone. I hear he bites. Besides, he has loose lips and a limber mind.

Rick,
I might just enjoy Vernacular!!

Scream all you want. We’re a tough crowd and can take it. Just get well enough so you’re able to get to your mailbox in a couple of days. Actually, I want you “more well” (odd term) than that, but you get my drift. Happy Recovery!
December 2, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Dear im6,
The screaming has been replaced by a oohs and ahhs, none loud enough to scare any of the animals.
My neighbor delivers the mail to a bag hanging off my front door. I am waiting with great anticipation!!

A nasty thing sciatica! I get it sometimes but then it´s more like a pain that is there in the background constantly reminding me that life is tough 🙂 🙂 Thankfully I´ve never gotten it the way You have now, but I know of those it always gets like that.
But I´m glad You are alive :-)I´ll mail to You today so I can get Your address again so I can send You a christmascard 🙂
Take care!
Christer.

Greg,
Given how long I’ve been laid up and wearing the same clothes ( I did change but…..) I suspect the dogs would have found me easily.

Glad to see you’re still on the planet. Hope your sciatica settles down soon. Keep up the progress.
