I’m liking your description of the dinner table guests. The girlfriend is making conversation with her new beau.The guy still eating and paying no attention could care less.

Guy on the left is the condemned man.
Everyone else is trying to explain how happy he’ll be.
But no one will inform him what his punishment is.
It may include a ban on maple syrup.

She is well-fed from sampling during the meal preparation, when the food was most edible.
