“It is too humid to continue.”

The day is dark. It has rained a little, small drops which fell for only a while, disappeared for a bit then fell again. I was outside under the umbrella the whole time and stayed dry. I love the sound of the rain on the umbrella. In Ghana, I loved the sound of the rain on the tin roof. I’d sit on my porch under the overhang to watch the rain fall. It was all around me falling in heavy drops with a bit of lightning for drama. I’d listen to it hitting the roof over my head and never tire of the sound. Sometimes I wish I still had a tin roof.

I hope the rain doesn’t mean my first outdoor movie will have to be postponed.

The air is oppressive right now. It dulls sounds and curtails activity. Not a leaf moves in the thick humidity. I should be hearing lawn mowers and kids’ voices. All I hear are a few birds. It will be a day on the deck with a book and some cold drinks.

This week I lost track of the days. I thought yesterday was Saturday. That confusion happens every once in a while and comes from my not keeping a personal calendar any more. The computer is nice enough to give me a day’s notice if I have an appointment, but beyond that I’m on my own. It used to be I knew it was Sunday when The Amazing Race was on, and that was all I needed to help keep track. Now, baseball is on every night, no help there, but I don’t really care all that much. The day is mine to make of it as I want. That’s good enough.

What a strange Summer. Who would ever think the temperature would get to 103 degrees in New York City. Here in North Texas we have had a week of almost constant rain. Usually in July we can fry eggs on the hot dry sidewalks.

This winter was really weird. I left DFW airport on March 21st. in a cold rain and changed planes at New York’s LaGuardia Airport in 70 degree sunshine on my way to Toronto. In Toronto they had not had any snow all winter. Here in Dallas we had a total of 12 inches. Is all this the effects of Global Warming?

      Bob,
This is the second strange summer for us. All last year we were cold, wearing sweatshirts at night until almost August. This year it is far too hot too early and no rain to speak of in a long while.

Hot hot hot over here. The flies are insane out in the forest, so no more walks today. But there´s a strong wind that blows through my house and it disguises that it really is to hot inside 🙂

They showed Naked Gun on tv today. I love it and there´s loads of quotes to use. Like “Can I interest You in a nightcap? No thanks I don´t wear them.” 🙂 🙂 🙂

I hope Your movie night can be outdoors!
    Have a great day now!
    Christer.

      Christer,
It is hot here too. At least I can sit on the deck and get a bit of air. No green flies here but I wouldn’t go near the woods.

      Thanks on the movie!!

“In Colorado it gets cool at night. Back east it gets dark.” Recent quote from Denver TV weatherman.

      Bill,
My sister, who lives in Littleton, would agree, but just having been there, I’d substitute cool for less hot.

I told my wife since we have the baby Monday through Friday we both know it’s the weekend when he doesn’t show up on a Saturday morning. We actually miss his smiling face and have started inviting daughter and son in law over for Sunday dinner so we can hold him and get our baby fix. It’s like Ann closing the door to our room in the morning so Zoey is forced to wake me. I wouldn’t know what to do if Zoey weren’t biting at my face and squeaking at me in the morning. She is really soooo cute to do that but I love it and she always sleeps in my in box during the days when I work from my home office.

      Z&Me,
Animals get into their own routines. Fern grabs me when I first get out of bed. She stands on her back paws and reaches out-it’s Temptations time!
