New to me, but I like him. I saw on Wikipedia that he was born just nine days earlier than me!

When I was about six my Father was driving to San Antonio and I was in tow. When we were close, there was the Billboard for the Snake Farm. The graphic was a painted depiction of a giant snake wrapped around a man in a pith helmet who was pointing a pistol at the giant snake’s giant head with its huge forked tongue and fangs. I asked my dad if we could go the the Snake Farm and he says, “Boy, that place is just a tourist trap.”

In my imagination I saw some station wagon with Illinois plates and the family falling through a trap door to face the giant snake on its way to eat them.

Scared me terribly and gave me bad dreams for a while.

      Beto,
I remember seeing old black and white photos of the snake and gator farms in Florida. The gator farms scared me. The jaws of those creatures were strong enough to break bodies in half. I did see snakes when I was growing up, but they were usually garden snakes, not at all scary. The snakes in Ghana, though, are most decidedly scary. They were huge and many were deadly.
