hmmm I remember the chorus from when I was young. Last week I visited Samlesbury Hall in Lancashire. One of the rooms there is said to be the place where a woman had her head chopped off by religious opponents. I took a photo of the effigy in that room – I tried to post it here.

I never heard of this until a few years ago. Rudy Vallee was the first I’d heard sing this. I was surprised to find this one.
