A friend and I went to the Al Stewart 80th Birthday Tour gig in Bournemouth, Dorset, on Wednesday. He was great, and so was his band of young musicians from Chicago. They are The Empty Pockets. Al kicked off his tour in our town because he grew up nearby, played in local bands as a teenager, and was helped in his musical development by locals who themselves became legends e.g. Robert Fripp (King Crimson) and Andy Summers (The Police).
Peter,
There you go again giving me concert envy. Where I live only The Barbarians, a group few people remember, came from here. Their claim to fame is Are You a Girl or Are You a Boy, a forgettable song. They were together only 3 years. I saw them at a place called the A Go Go here on the cape. Even that is gone. It is now a fundamentalist church.

I love Van’s work, and I’ve seen him live on two occasions.

Peter,
I do envy all the concerts you have seen. I would have loved to have seen Van Morrison.

I honestly don’t go to concerts nearly as often as most people.

Yet you have been lucky enough to see wonderful bands and groups.
